How we clean a rug.

STEP 01
Inspect & Test
We check the fiber, the backing, and the dyes, and test a small area for colorfastness before any solution touches the rug.
STEP 02
Dry Soil Removal
Most of what is in a rug is dry grit. We pull that out first, from both sides where the construction allows.
STEP 03
Gentle Pretreat
A pH appropriate pretreatment for the fiber, worked in by hand on spots and heavy traffic areas rather than aggressively agitated.
STEP 04
Clean & Rinse
Hot water extraction where the fiber can take it, low moisture methods where it cannot, followed by a clean rinse so no residue stays behind.
STEP 05
Groom & Dry
We reset the pile so it dries in the right direction, then move air across the rug to dry it fast and keep browning or dye movement from setting in.
WHAT WE CLEAN

Rugs in your home.

Tell us what you have and we will tell you honestly what we can do with it.

Synthetic area rugs
Nylon, polyester and olefin rugs are durable and respond very well to hot water extraction. This is the everyday living room rug.
Cotton flatweaves
Dhurries and cotton flatweaves are absorbent and prone to dye bleed, so they get tested first and dried fast.
Shag & high pile
Deep pile hides an enormous amount of dry soil. Extra time on dry removal makes the difference on these.
Pet accidents on rugs
Urine wicks into the backing and pad underneath. We treat the source with enzymes rather than just cleaning the surface.
WHY IT MATTERS

What a proper rug cleaning gets you.

Color that comes back
Dry soil dulls a rug long before it looks dirty. Pulling it out brings the pattern and the color back to what you bought.
No lingering odor
Rugs sit right where pets and spills happen. Cleaning the backing, not just the face fibers, is what actually removes the smell.
A rug that survives
Grit cuts fibers from the inside. Cleaning on a reasonable schedule is the cheapest thing you can do for a rug you want to keep.

FAQ

Rug cleaning questions.

Do you clean rugs in my home or take them away?+

Most rugs we clean in place, in your home, on the same visit as your carpet. If a rug needs full immersion washing or has damage that needs specialty attention, we will tell you and point you in the right direction.

How long does a rug take to dry?+

Usually 8 to 16 hours with good airflow, sometimes longer for high pile. We groom the pile and set up fans before we leave.

Will pet urine come out of a rug?+

Often, yes. My enzyme treatment breaks down the source rather than masking it. pet urine has a tendency to wick back up, but we brush deep into the fabric to prevent that. If it does wick back up, just call me.

What does rug cleaning cost?+

Rugs are priced by size and fiber. Use the instant estimate tool for a transparent number, or call with the dimensions and we will quote it over the phone.
